Curriculum

Hazelwood focuses on bilingual Chinese-English development. We have three strands of programs: Mainstream Program, English-Putonghua and International English only.

International Program

Our international program adopts the California Preschool Curriculum, that aligns with the kindergartens in California, USA.
Guided by Invitational Education approach, our children can truly experience and appreciate the essence of Chinese and Western cultures, with the awareness of international citizenship and respect of multiculturalism.


Mainstream Program and English-Putonghua Programs

Both our mainstream Cantonese and English-Putonghua programs are developed according to under the Whole Language principles of the Hong Kong Education Bureau. The mainstream program teaches mainly in Cantonese with weekly Putonghua and English lessons, nurturing trilingual proficiency. The English-Putonghua program is conducted by dual class teachers who are English and Putonghua natives. All our programs, teaching approaches and materials are based on games, projects, Whole Language approach and Jolly Phonics. Children can learn effectively in more natural, realistic language contexts. Our curriculum reflects the balance of philosophy and practice in education, which is the focus of STEM and the development of 21st century skills and school-based curriculum. We hope to turn the boundless potentials and challenges of every child into opportunities of learning, exploration and growth. We hope that all children will be highly curious of their surrounding nature and passionate about their community.


Playgroup program

Our program is for toddlers and preschoolers from 12 to 24 months old. According to their age and development, we  customise gross and fine motor skill training to strengthen their muscle control, body balance and eye-hand coodination. Our diversified theme based program embraces musical movements, parent-child games and artistic handicrafts, in totally fun, creative and enriching language envrionment. Equally important, learning with others as a group fosters their sense of discipline, courtesy, respect, sharing and appreciation. All these help with their emotional management, in addition to confidence and social development in future.
